The Sour and Wild Ale Guild was born, first and foremost, out of our relationships and the resulting conversations with the incredible brewers, owners, and employees in this industry. Throughout the last few years, as sour and wild ales continue to expand in prevalence and complexity, we have sensed a growing need for a shared resource, accessible to all who endeavor to craft these beers.
What began as a roundtable at the Craft Brewer's Conference about nomenclature, grew into a Slack channel, and then into a few brewers endeavoring to launch a guild, pool our resources, and invite more breweries into the conversation.
The Board of Directors is comprised of Jeffery Stuffings (Jester King Brewing), Ben Edmunds (Breakside Brewing), Jay Goodwin (The Rare Barrel), Jeff Porn (Atom Brewing), Bret Coleman Baker (Urban Artifact Beer), Brandon Jones (Yazoo Brewing), and Josh Hambright (Central State Brewing). The 2018 Board members are committed to an active, foundational role serving as the steering committee during this formative year.
